After a divorce you may need a qualified domestic relations order, or QDRO, and you may be wondering how long it takes to complete that process. Typically, the process takes up to about six months. The factors that go into that are the amount of time it takes for the pension or retirement plan to provide their guidelines, the time it takes for the parties to circulate a draft order and to have the court sign off on it, and then also the time that it takes for the plan to process that order and implement the terms.
